An interdisciplinary concept for the treatment of Bell’s palsy – a case report

Background. Bell’s palsy is a spontaneous paralysis of the facial nerve (i.e. cranial VII). It presents with muscle weakness leading to asymmetry, drooping corner mouth, loss ability whistle, blink, close eyelid, purse lips or grin. The forehead on affected side becomes smooth and patient not able frown raise eyebrows. Objective. aim study was evaluate effect combined electrophysical physiotherapeutic methods accelerating recovery from palsy. Material Methods. authors describe two cases palsy, treated simulta-neous application agents, in form an extremely low-frequency elec-tromagnetic field (ELF-EMF) high-energy LED light, physiotherapy modalities, i.e. proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) kinesiotaping (KT). Results. After four weeks treatments, fully satis-factory stable therapeutic achieved. Conclusions. interdisciplinary therapy using ELF-EMF + PNF KT treatments proved be effective Further studies are needed establish appropriate protocols.
